Sleat Community Trust are asking locals to have their say on the name of the community shop.

The community will choose between "The Trading Post" and "Armadale Stores."

Serena Smart (Chair of Sleat Community Trading Company Ltd.) told The Skye Times: "The Ardvasar Stores in Ardvasar closed after long service to the Community of Sleat.

"The community thanks Carol and Billy Currie for all their work in providing a local store over many years.

"The Sleat Community Trust felt that it was vital to keep such a valued service in the community and bought fittings and consumables from the Ardvasar Store.

"These were then moved down the road to the Filling Station at Armadale, already owned and run, (along with a Post Office and small shop) by the Sleat Community Trust.

"The back of the shop has now been opened up to provide a larger shop. Everything was moved in a day by a team of amazing volunteers. With a huge effort by both volunteers and staff we managed to get it up and running within another day."

Serena continued: "We would like to thank the community for showing us such wonderful support already."

The shop will be open from 8:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday.  The Post Office hours are 8:30am to 1:30pm from Monday to Friday.  The shop will also be open on Saturday from 8:30am to 3:00pm.
