Icy road conditions have resulted in an accident at Skeabost today (Wednesday 27 December.)

The MET office have issued an ice warning covering the Highlands and Islands until tonight and tomorrow, saying: "Showers of rain, sleet and snow are expected on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, with snow most likely inland away from immediate coastal areas and over hills.

"The extent of ice will vary across the area with inland areas most prone whilst coastal areas exposed to the northerly winds are less likely to be affected. 1 or 2 cm of snow may accumulate above about 100 m, with perhaps 5 cm or more locally over the higher ground of North Highland. Temporary deposits may also occur at lower levels, mainly late in the night."
