A female casualty with a serious leg injury was rescued at the Quiraing over the weekend.

Skye Mountain Rescue say the injury was the result of being struck by a falling rock.

The casualty was taken by stretcher down loose ground before being uplifted to HMCoastguard Rescue and then taken to the WI Hospital in Stornoway.

The Quiraing rescue meant that almost half the team were  late for a very special event at Sligachan Hotel - a function to mark the retirement of a legend in Skye MRT, Eoghain MacKinnon.

Eoghain recently retired after 46 years in the team.  The team stated: "It was a privilege to serve with Eoghain and the commitment shown by him and Francis over the years was extraordinary."
