The directors at Carbost Pier Ltd. have announced they have a tenant for their latest development at Carbost Waterfront.
Jamie Fletcher of Portnalong will be tenant of the new retail unit. Set to open in March 2017, the takeaway will specialise in coffee, home baking and other refreshments.
Jamie will also be responsible for caretaking duties at the adjoining public toilet and shower facilities, currently being constructed opposite the Talisker Distillery. It is hoped that the toilets and showers will be open to the public at some time in September. It is intended that they will be open from 8am to 10pm every day, including Sundays.
Until recently, there have been only a few provisions for visitors by boat, but the community efforts have resulted in a renovated pier, visitor moorings and berthing.
The village of Carbost attracts thousands of visitors each year. In 2013, the Distillery saw a footfall of 60,000 visitors and it is hoped that the work will enable an easier visit by land and by sea.
