A man has died following a road traffic collision on the A87 between Portree and Broadford, police say.
The incident happened approximately a mile north of Sligachan and was reported to police at 8.49am on Wednesday, August 8.
The 54-year-old man was the driver of a white Ford van involved in the collision. His next-of-kin have been made aware.
Another man from the same vehicle has been airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow for treatment to serious injuries.
Also involved in the incident were a white Audi Q7, a blue Mercedes C-class and a silver Vauxhall van.
A diversion is in place from Sligachan to Dunvegan on A863 and then on A850 via Edinbane to Portree. This means that approximately 45 minutes will be added to the journey to and from Uig and Portree from eastern Skye. Traffic trying to shortcut this route via the Struan road reportedly brought that single-track route to a standstill.
Road Policing Sergeant Ewan Calder said: "Our thoughts at this time are very much with the family and friends of the victim of this collision.
"I would also extend our thanks to the public for their patience while the road has been closed.
"Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I would ask anyone with information who has not yet spoken to an officer gets in touch as soon as possible."
