The Scottish Government's Housing Minister will be visiting Skye.
Kevin Stewart, who was invited to come by Ms Forbes in her capacity as constituency MSP, will see affordable housing projects at Kyleakin and Kyle of Lochalsh on Tuesday 21 August, before going onto Fort William where he will also meet with the Lochaber Chambers of Commerce.
Housing continues to be big issue across the West Highlands, according to the MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch.
Kate Forbes MSP said: “Housing has been repeated again and again on my constituency tour as an issue of major concern locally.
“That is why I invited the Housing Minister Kevin Stewart to my constituency to see the problem for himself and meet with people to discuss solutions.
“There is an enormous challenge for people who want to say in the area but are priced out because of the escalating house prices, lack of supply and high proportion of second homes.
“Unless we sort it – and soon – there won’t be enough people to work in the area.
“Although it has been an issue that I’ve given much time and effort to, I believe it is time for new solutions.
“Building lots of homes is one way to combat the problem, but there have got to be other ways too.”
