A Fairy Pools clean up is planned for tomorrow (Saturday 13 October.)
Organiser and founder of All Things Cuillin Facebook group, Adrian Trendall, was approached by organisers of The Real 3 Peaks Challenge, who run a coordinated deep clean of Scotland, England and Wales' mountains. Adrian told The Skye Times: "They wanted us to clean up rubbish on a mountain, but I explained they were pretty rubbish free and cleaning a mountain would be more for the kudos of climbing it than any need to clear trash. I suggested somewhere more roadside and visited by tourists where a voluntary effort could do more good hence the Fairy Pools plan was drawn up."
Both sides of the road between the top car park and the lower car park will be tidied up, as will the surrounding area and the pools themselves. Rubbish will be sorted into recyclable and non-recyclable and disposed of accordingly.
Adrian continued: "We'll be meeting at the main car park at 9am and will be there for a few hours, possibly longer... We aren't expecting many volunteers, but, also, we aren't expecting too much rubbish!"
