A now-familiar Kishorn landmark will soon be making its way to the North Sea.
Ocean GreatWhite, the largest semi-submersible drilling rig in the world, will be departing imminently.
The ship FS Balmoral arrived yesterday (Tuesday 26 February) to commence lifting the anchors currently holding the rig in position. Yesterday evening, large X-Bow offshore vessel, Normand Service, took up position next to the rig.
Over 150 people visited Kishorn Port Ltd (KPL) during a drop-in event on Saturday (23 February.) During the Open Day, they heard a presentation by Simon Russell, CEO of Leiths, on the history of the port and their plans for the future.
During the presentation, Simon commented that many people have remarked how sad they will be to see the great rig leave.
"There was a tear in my eye when she arrived and there will likely be a tear in my eye when she leaves!" stated Simon.
