Broadford is set to have a new primary school campus by 2021.

The proposed site is adjacent to the current school and located beyond the football pitch.

It is also planned to include a community hub.

A new Community School and Hub Working Group was formed earlier this year and is made of of members from the Community Council, Football Club, Community Company, Parent Council and the Village Hall.

The new hub may include enhanced sporting and venue facilities, changing rooms, meeting rooms and bring the library, service point and other community services and organisations to one location.

A requirements survey of past present and future community users has firmly indicated that the addition of a new hub would be well used and has attracted overwhelming support.

Subject to community approval, these new facilities would replace the current village hall. That aspect is being investigated by the Hub Group and in the event that option was to be seriously considered, the approval of the wider community will require to be secured at a public meeting held for that purpose, after the options available have been established.

Further meetings are now being scheduled between the group and Highland Council to work out a combined strategy to provide a new school in 2021.
