Skye’s very own voice of the airwaves, Cuillin FM is now looking for locals who want to do more than just tune in.
Fresh voices to present shows at the radio station are being recruited and age or ability is no barrier.
“It is a wonderful opportunity to be part of truly community led initiative and we are looking for young and old alike. If you are interested in radio and want to be part of what we do we would love to hear from you.
“We also want to re-introduce our 30 minute Youth Slot later this year. This is a shorter than usual half hour weekly show for anybody in High School who would love to learn to present a radio show.
“If you think that might be you and you are free at 4pm on a Tuesday afternoon, we'd love to hear from you! Just drop Ruth an email to introduce yourself using the details on our website. Again we will provide full training.”
From early broadcasts at the Aros Centre, to a leaking portacabin in a building site and onto a brand new purpose built studio, Cuillin FM has come on leaps and bounds through the years. This has only happened thanks to the dedication of volunteers who have given much of their time to the development of Skye and Lochalsh's community radio station.
It has two studios and can handle all modern recording techniques, editing and broadcasting. At the moment they have approximately 40 volunteers who present radio programmes or work behind the scenes.
