With its sweeping front lawn, sea views and backdrop of romantic ruins, the grounds of Armadale Castle must be one of Skye's most perfect venues for a party.
Things are shaping up for a lively Spring Bank Holiday as the team prepare for a Gala Weekend on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 May. The Gala promises a great day out for visitors of all ages.
With giant games, bouncy castles, face-painting and craft activities, as well as axe-throwing from ACE Target Sports, there will be plenty to keep the family entertained. Segway rides and Argocat tours will also be on offer, giving youngsters a fun way to explore the castle's extensive grounds. Aerialists Cuillin Fools will provide thrilling performances in the trees, and offering workshops. Pop-up performances from local musicians will add to the party atmosphere.
Garden aficionados can stock up for spring from plant stalls and join a garden tour. There will also be a display on garden history and the opportunity to contribute ideas about the future development of the gardens.
The local community will also be taking part, with stalls and activities from Bun-sgoil Shlèite (Sleat Primary School), Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, Sleat Local History Society and others.
No Gala is complete without a barbeque and the new cafe, Gasta at Armadale Castle, will be providing tasty treats all weekend and running the bar. And in the evening, a highlight is the gig by Gaelic supergroup Dàimh in the cafe (tickets separate - booking essential from SEALL at http://www.seall.co.uk/events/daimh-26-may/).
The event runs from 10am to 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday, and costs £2.50 adults, £1 children and under 5's free. The ticket includes entrance to the museum and gardens.
